"Does history repeat itself?", I don't necessarily think so. I think that people are prone to make the same mistakes repeatedly.

Example 1) Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein.
Hitler wanted to rule all of Europe, and the crazy guy he is, he went on doing it. He took over many countries before he was stopped. Hitler believed that Jews were a disgrace to mankind and wanted to extinct anyone and everything that was jewish. Then there is Saddam Hussein. He thought that Kuwait wasn't a "real" country (who knows why?) so he decided to start war with them. Great dictators for their countries, however, they were using weapons of mass destruction killing and injuring thousands of people. Evidently, both dictators killed their "own" people. All for what? All for power!

Example 2) The Vietnam war and The War in Iraq.

honestly, i cant say that history can repeat itself nor can i say that it can. i believe that it can be either and basically in between. it all depends on individuals. for example when shooting occured in schools. there wasnt just only one school that had that similar incident, but there were many. i believe that we cant say history wont repeat itself because it can. i cant say it will because we dont know that. we hope that it wont but it all depends on individual people in the world.
when big news such like shootings and bombings, it affects the world and everyone around us. there are some people out there that could easily be interested in these kind of history and could even begin to make their own. for example, when the shooting had happened in the states that i know of, schools all around in my own home city, there were many schools that got threats and they must have gotten that idea from past events. everyone has they're own different opinion on everything and there are few that just want to make they're own history. this is why i cant say that history will or wont repeat it self. it just all depends and hope that it wont repeat it self but then again we still have to face the possibilities that history can still repeat itself.

In some cases i do believe that history does indeed repeat itself.

I believe this because there are a lot of people that are out there and are crazy, and will emulate other crazy people. Like for instance i believe that Saddam Hussein is copying Adolf Hitler. Adolf wanted the "superior race." So he killed everyone that wasn't blue eyed, white skinned, and had blond hair. Saddam Hussein was basically killing people that weren't Muslim.

Another example is all the Assassinations that have happened over the years. It seemed to be people that spoke up about freedom. Like Abraham Lincoln, John F Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Robert F Kennedy and so on.

Also in my opinion the attacks on Pearl harbor were the same as 911. I believe this because both attacks happened out of no where and no one knew about them, they were spontaneous.

History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”
Mark Twain

I really agree on what Mark Twain said. History doesn’t repeat
itself. For me, History is a continuous event that never ends. (I believe)

For Example:

• Civil war for slaves to have rights and liberty.
• World War 1
• World War 11
• Vietnam War
• Gulf war
• the recent war in Iraq

Each and every country involved in each war fight
continuously for them to gain freedom or power. I must say these wars are proof
of what Mark Twain’s saying. Also, like what Ivanna have said; people
tend to make mistakes over and over again. Most people do the same
mistakes like what they did a long time ago. They never learn from their
mistakes. Mistakes are only done repeatedly. Hence, history never repeats
itself.

I’ll give an example or a situation about history not repeating
itself. However, mistakes are done numerous times. Here how it goes; when
you love someone after a while your heart broken down and torn into
pieces by your loved one. After several days, you met a guy/girl and you
went out with him/her. Unfortunately, he/she broke your heart. Would you
still love again even thought your still hurt? (Who Wouldn’t?) If so,
there is a possibility that you’ll end up being loveless and hurt. Also,
the same mistake will be repeated AGAIN. The search for love is never
ending just like mistakes being done repeatedly over and over. Love is
also like math, we need love and trust for us to have a good
relationship (love + trust = good relationship). Some facts about having a good
life; just so you guys know.

In 18 years of my life I believe that there are just three kinds of
people in the world.

THE WISEST- people who learn from their mistakes
THE WISE – people who learn from the mistakes of others
THE FOOL – people who didn’t learn anything form their experience nor
from the experience of others

So, if the world were dominated by the “THE FOOLS”, therefore I should
say that most of us would think that history really does repeat itself....

Histories repetition in itself can be seen in so many places, its actually ridiculous. My first example is the reformation of Christianity, in which Christians (now largely the people who call Islamic people terrorists) slaughtered anyone who didn't believe in Jesus, now Islam is going through its reformation. My second example is that of Hitler and bin Laden who both wanted to take over the world with their ideologies, crazy as they may be.

Does history repeat itself? In my opinion it dosen't. You just have the same mistake repeatedly occuring. Sure the past can have an effect on the future in terms of others learning from the mistakes of those who failed. Such as Hitler and Saddam. Hitler wanted to rule the world and have only those with blonde hair and blue eyes survive, and disposed of those who tried to stop him. When compared with mad man Saddam, he has done the same with eliminating those who opposed him with bombing them with chemical weapons. Wars have been a repetition that has been going on for along time. All wars have one common thing that point out and thats the natural resources that the country posses. So this has repeatedly been a cause for war and also a repeat.
