How have we (the World) become like we have

How have we (the World) become like we have
In this response, I would like to get your ideas on how the world has become the way it has. In class, I have identified a number of potential ideas and themes, that you could use in answering this question. Please identify and explain at least three or four of the concepts or reasons, that you believe are rsponsible for the world's condition today.

i believe, how and what happened to the world that made it become like it has now is through technology, the wars and basically evolution of man kind. the more knowledge the world got, the more the world and everything else advanced. also, mostly individual actions will reflect on the world. for example, if something were to happen to a country, it effects the world.

The world has become the way it has from various reasons such as world wars, incredible technology and the evolution of all mankind.

World wars have made us more knowledgable for future references. Technology is advancing like there is no tomorrow, however, the more technology grows, the worse our world gets. Technology makes us lazier. We can't do anything on our own anymore. -Ivanna C.

Why is the world the way it is today? Is it technology, power, desire, economy, pressure, egotism, or all the above and more? It is no surprise that since the beginning of time humans or animals have fought for means of power, leadership, and territory. One could call such a thing as “human nature”. Don’t they say that the first instinct is for survival? So is that survival by any means necessary? Is that why there have been wars and threats looming over the world where most people not involved in direct conflict live their lives not giving a care for the rest of the world. Self survival is our instinct whether we’re taking over other countries for oil or just ignoring the fact that bombs are falling on innocent civilians. It’s amazing how some people live so luxuriously although others can barely afford means to survive.
People fight for power, the power to control their own country and others. That’s why there are undeveloped countries where people are struggling and that’s why to this day there are countries still fighting for their independence. Although our ancestors caused the conflict it’s a problem of the world. Why are wars started? Because people want power and to fight for what they personally think is right despite any opposing opinions. People are willing to do anything to ensure that their life is stable. Bombs are dropped in countries, but where we are, people may think it has absolutely no effect on them. Such things lead to hostility amongst people of different ethnicities. Even in Canada where we like to think we’re a “mosaic”, we still see racial discrimination.
Technology is a great factor as well. In an article we reviewed in class, it stated that other countries are pressured to keep up with the west in terms of technology though it could mean disposing past traditions and culture. We can say that the world is ever-evolving and people could look at the pressure to keep up in different ways. On one hand it could be a negative thing for those countries that have been occupied or destroyed by means of war. The economy in those places must have went down significantly and rather than concentrating on keeping up with the west, the must struggle to survive and rebuild what they had lost. Well watching Rambo, we called the way of life of those living in Afghanistan, “primitive”. Although that seems like a negative term, it’s a true way to describe it. It’s a struggle for countries such as this to keep up with the developing world which could lead to anger at the difference of the way living between what you could call two different worlds, the developed countries and the not so developed countries.
Disappearing natural resources may contribute to more conflict. Making the big headlines is news about rising gas prices as well as food and rice shortage. Genocides and animal extinction, are we destroying ourselves? As much as we like to think we’re in control of ourselves and the world, we aren’t taking care of the world. We have the economists fighting the world because they want to save the forests, rebels in Africa taking food supplies from hungry citizens, and wars in the Middle East over oil control. We are a closed system and our resources are only what we have on this earth, when everything disappears, we can’t even guarantee the survival of the human race. It is for that reason why conflict is started because people want to live despite the fact that we may be destroying the world by pride and ignorance.
Apparently we as humans control the world, but our actions reflect on the world itself and I guess you can say that the world isn’t in as good condition as it could be. People all over the world are fighting other groups of people, global warming is supposedly threatening us, and our natural earth is being used up and destroyed. Why is the world like this? Because of people. People who have ideology, who have a sense of superiority over others, people who are territorial, people who do anything to ensure their own survival, and by the ignorance of people who simply don’t care what is happening out of their own life. We can look all through history to see achievements and developments, it’s not all bad, but ideally the condition of the world as it is isn’t the best when there is so much conflict going on. All through history as well, we see conflict and war caused by whom? People.
That’s more or less what I have to say about it. This is getting kind of long…

The world is becoming the way it is, simply because of greed.

The number one thing on people's minds is money. Or in other cases natural resources. Why start a war over oil? What they are doing is basically destroying the planet and killing thousands even millions of people for something that isn't important.

Also for Democracy.

Another reason the world is like it is today is because there is a lack of respect regarding to religion, culture and so on.

People are simply greedy and disrespectful.

There are lots of factors or reasons why we get this way.....

*War
*Ideology
*Territory & power (corruption)
*Religion
*technology
*greediness for natural resources
*Colonialism/imperialism

War, greediness for power, territory and natural resources

-In my opinion, these four are all correlated with each other. In addition, these are the reasons why there are wars between countries. Countries declare war because they are not satisfied with what they have. Most countries want numerous amounts of natural resources for them to become rich. Also, they want to have wide range of territory in order for them to have power. Why do they want those? It is because tyrants and dictators want to manipulate each and one of us.

Religion

As far as world issue is concerned, religion is also a vital reason why there is a war. One of Osama's purpose for fighting is to point out that Islam is the only right religion and that everyone must be a muslim.

As far as our religion is concerned, war between countries is one of the omens that the rupture is coming soon. (just to inform you)

Technology

technlogy si a big factor why our world became waht it is today. admit it or not, technology helps us in a lot of different ways. It makes our life easier, but not better, it is because of the technologies such as cellphones, computers, washing machines, cars, etcetera our life is a way much easier and comfortable than before. Also, because of techology our life is not as peaceful as it was a long time ago. Nuclear weapons, guns, atomic bombs and all those things that were invented not to help us but to destroy us. These are commonly use in wars that makes our life miserable. Technology doesn't affects us alone, it also affects our nature. Global warming, climate changes, melting of the arctic are some of the negative effects on our nature because of technology and human deeds.

I believe, the world could have been much more developed in its technology and its medical fields. Which has been but its been used in ways to eliminate each other to claim power. The worlds gotten the way its been due to the wars and dictators establishing themselves as all mighty. Instead of joining together they are at eachothers throats destroying eachothers for resources and power.
